I'm a 29 year old chick living in the South. I'm married to Kim - happily married most of the time. Our daughter is 8-year-old Bailyn. I work in the I.S. Department of a nearby hospital. Oh, and I'm a pagan living in the Bible Belt.
I love reading, cuddling with Kim and Bailyn, working with computers, playing The Sims 2, and waiting anxiously for the release of Sims 3.

Elfi - 16 - German Primary Interests: Volleyball, dancing and playing the piano. Secondary Interests: Art, music, TV and surfing the internet. INTERVIEWER'S COMMENTS Elfi demonstrates she is open-minded, helpful and strong. She is a leader and a team player. Her goals during her year abroad are to participate in an active volleyball team at school, and to create new relationships with her host family and friends. Elfi is interested in seeing different parts of the world. She has traveled to Spain, Great Britain and Denmark with her family. Elfi is a positive and determined young lady who will adapt quickly to her new surroundings. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS Elfi has been playing volleyball since she was fours years old. She is currently the captain of her volleyball team. They have placed first in recent tournaments during 2003-2005. Elfi enjoys staying active and socializing with friends, but makes time to study for her classes. She is attending a very prestigious school just outside of Berlin where she participates in sports and enjoys studying German and English. ROWE COMMENTS Sherry: Looks VERY promising. Kim: Yes, she does. Sherry: I like her a lot. She's not my favorite, though. _________________________
Imke - 16 - Dutch Primary Interests: Soccer, aerobics and dance Secondary Interests: Swimming and community service INTERVIEWER'S COMMENTS Imke is a friendly, cheerful girl who seems social and open. Imke enjoys traveling and experiencing new thinsg and so she is very exicted about her opportunity to study in the United States. Imke loves sports and is very passionate about soccer in particular. Imke also enjoys various forms of dand and has even won awards in competitions. She enjoys crafts as well and makes her own jewellery and bags. She is a good student and is very close with her family. She looks forward to joining an open, communicative and accpeting American host family. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS Imke gets along well with children and has been very involved in community service by volunteering at a summer youth camp. On weekends she works at a children's entertainment center. ROWE COMMENTS Sherry: She loves kids....she's creative. Hey, Kim...why did we veto this one?! She's perfect! Jana - 16 - Dutch Primary Interests: Theatre, dance, team sports and photography Secondary Interests: Cheerleading and surfing INTERVIEWER'S COMMENTS Jana is an open-minded and sweet Dutch girl. She is smart, caring and friendly and looks forward to seeing what the reality behind American tv shows is really like. She is quite independent for a Dutch girl of her age and is also very close with her family. Jana is also very strong-willed and disciplined, which will serve her well on her year abroad. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS Jana feels very strongly about social justice and is motivated and ambitious in school. She is very interested in American culture and regularly peruses the web for more information about the United States. Jana is good with children and occasionally babysits. She also likes to spend a good deal of her time in the outdoors and loves to travel and experience new things. ROWE COMMENTS Sherry: She's great. Likes kids. Active, but not too active. Kim: *yawn* Yeah, she looks good. Sherry: Yeah, she does. She's just not IT. {sigh} ________________________________
Astrid - 16 - Dutch Primary Interests: Volleyball, tennis Secondary Interests: Music and spending time with friends. INTERVIEWER'S COMMENTS Astrid is a very friendly and cheerful person. She is very interested in sports, particularly tennis and volleyball. Astrid is curious about American traditions and is looking forward to learning more about the American culture and improving her English. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS Astrid has traveled to Germany, France, Belgium, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Italy and Canada with her family. She plans to get involved with extracurricular activities such as journalism and photography. Astrid's favorite class in school is her drawing class because it allows her to be creative with her work. ROWE COMMENTS: Sherry: Looks really promising. Kim: She's OK with me. I'm just worried that if we take her, you'll see one later and regret moving so quickly. Sherry: You're right. We'll keep waiting. She's just not the one.

For reasons I simply don't know now, Astrid was our favorite from the November candidates. Jana was second. Looking back over the four, I can't imagine what we were thinking. There's got to be something I'm overlooking tonight, because as I see it now, Elfi and Imke were perfect. (As an interesting side note, Astrid and Jana are still available. Imke and Elfi have been taken.)
We're now considering hosting a Fall Semester student and maybe following with a Spring (2007) Semester kid, dpending on how the Fall goes. There's a Fall Semester girl name Anna who has caught my eye. Will post her info ASAP.
